What Are The Best Tools For Lead Generation? — An Odetta Analysis

Here at Odetta, lead generation is one of our largest use cases. At first, we didn’t have a set of tools that we favored; we used what our clients suggested and whatever was most convenient. We soon realized that this led to inconsistent results, with some tools outperforming others. So in order to strengthen our output, we needed to figure out what tools work the best.

So we conducted a two month long analysis. We chose 5 of the most popular email sourcing extensions and 2 of the most popular email verifiers to find and verify the emails of 1,000 contacts. This is our review:

Email Sourcers

  1. SalesQL (Winner)

Compared to the other email sourcers, SalesQL is a clear winner. We were able to source 966 emails, with an accuracy rate of approximately 80%. SalesQL also has 4 types of pricing plans: the ‘Free’ plan gives you 100 free credits per month, the ‘Starter’ plan gives you 1,500 credits for $39/month, the ‘Advanced’ plan gives you 4,000 credits for $49/month, and the ‘Pro’ plan gives you 10,000 credits for $89/month.

All the paid plans also allow you to export your contacts to Excel/CSV and integrate your data with other apps. Overall, we found SalesQL to be the most reasonably priced with the best quality results.

  2. LeadLeaper (Runner Up)

Using Leadleper we sourced 671 emails with an accuracy rate of approximately 75%. While this is significantly less emails than what we found with SalesQL, Leadleaper has a better pricing system. Similar to SalesQL, the ‘Free’ plan gets you 100 credits per month. Next, there is a ‘Growth’ plan for $29/month that gives you 2,000 credits. The ‘Professional’ plan at $39/month has 5000 credits, and they also have a bespoke ‘Enterprise’ plan.

Using RocketReach, we were able to find 960 emails with an accuracy of approximately 85% . This sourcer also had the lowest bounce rate of all the 5 email sourcers we tested. However, we found RocketReach’s pricing plans to be too expensive. Their ‘Individual’ plans are cheaper by 33% if you pay annually. But they do not have any free plans, with their lowest plan offering 125 lookups a month for $59. We would only recommend RocketReach if sourcing emails is a high priority function of your organization.

  3. RocketReach

  4. Lusha

Similar to RocketReach, we found Lusha to be quite expensive. While we were able to find 756 emails with an accuracy rate of approximately 80%, we did not find their prices to be very reasonable. Their ‘Free’ plan offers only 5 credits/month, their ‘Professional’ plan for upto 5 users only offers 480 credits per year for $29/month, and their ‘Premium’ plan offers 840 credits per year for $44/month. However, they do also offer custom plans that are built to scale.

  5. ZoomInfo

We did not have much luck with ZoomInfo, finding only 30 emails out of a 100 contacts. Although its accuracy rate was over 90%, their pricing plans were too expensive to justify their output. Additionally, ZoomInfo offers a lot more information about the contact such as location, job position, company name, job hierarchy and work and personal phone numbers that we did not require. However, if these are of interest to you, then ZoomInfo might be the perfect option.

Email Verifiers

  1. ZeroBounce (Winner)

Using ZeroBounce to verify the emails that we had sourced, we found it to be the clear winner. It had the best verification rate, with an accuracy of over 90%. Its pricing plans are pretty reasonable too; if you sign up, you get 100 monthly validations for free. After that, you can pay as you go. They offer 2,000 validations for only $16, 5,000 validations for $39, and so on. Since using ZeroBounce, we have found a significant decrease in email bounces. Even some of our clients have asked us about it!

  2. VerifyEmailAddress

This verifier is completely free to use, we found it had an accuracy rate of approximately 80%. We would recommend this tool if you are just getting started with lead generation and do not have the funds to invest in a paid email verifier yet.

If you would like Odetta’s help in selection of tooling, please contact us. While it is important to get a great email sourcing and verification service, we still feel that 85% of all data requires a human verification process where we go to the Linkedin website, or call or email the prospect. We can provide a team that manages the tools and data for you, in addition to further data verification services.
