The Ultimate Guide To Landing Your Dream Role At Odetta

Last Updated: April 1, 2022

While it took an entire pandemic until the world shifted paradigms to flexible & remote work, our Founder & CEO Katharine Wolf had been contemplating the idea for almost a decade. Odetta was founded in May of 2018, with a mission to “provide remote work & community to women globally”. Since its founding, Odetta has grown multiple folds & achieved many heights. Odetta was recognized by Forbes as #21 Best Startup Employer in America in 2021; and #25 (out of 500) Best Startup Employer in America in 2022; based on happiness metrics. We also became part of #UnreasonableFUTURE— an accelerator for mission-driven growth stage companies. With every passing milestone, we continue to receive a large number of applications from superstar women aspiring to become future Odettians. So, we decided to provide an insight into how Odetta recruits amazing talent from millions of superstar educated women in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and South Asia (be it an Odetta Data Analyst or an Odetta Project Lead).

Drafting Your Odetta CV/Resume

Think of each section of your CV/Resume as a building block, with each building block containing information about your unique experiences & remarkable achievements.

An ideal CV/Resume should:

  • Have a clear structure

  • Have no grammatical or spelling mistakes

  • Highlight your experience, qualifications and skills; starting with the most recent ones

Remember to always mention the precise details of your previous roles, including any tools/ software utilized & the objectives achieved

  • Make short & concise points

  • Be edited several times & by different people

You could also:

  • Add statistics (this study reported by Forbes mentions that statistics alone have a retention rate of 5% to 10%)

  • Talk about the impact that you made & how it ties to the role that you are applying for

Don’t shy away from highlighting your personal traits as they describe your most human and individual aspects. You could be creative, technologically competent, a great team player; show what you got!

Preparing for Your Virtual Interview

Be poised. An interview is an opportunity to get to know you better, on a more human & interpersonal level. Think of unique experiences that have had a lasting impact on you, your personality & your mindset. Don’t be afraid to talk of your achievements, and areas where there is room for improvement. However, do mention how you have been working towards a better personal & professional version of yourself.

Our top tips:

  • Be prepared for technical glitches, & ideally perform a trial run using the devices (laptop/PC, microphone, headphones) that you will be using for the actual interview

  • Test & check your internet connection and devices 30 mins before the interview

  • Login to the venue (Zoom, Skype, Google Hangouts etc) 5-10 minutes in advance

If you’re not able to make it to the interview for any reason, make sure to inform the interviewer in due time

  • Don’t hesitate to be your unique self and let your individuality shine

Remember – Most people who are interviewing you have been in your place at some stage in their careers. So relax, speak enthusiastically about your experiences, skills, passions, and let your personality dazzle!

We are excited to welcome you to Odetta.
