The Odetta Boost: A Network of Helpers

Dear Reader,

Odetta made Forbes for the second year in a row, this time #25 Best Startup Employers out of 2,500 companies. While I am dubious of business rankings, and shy away from the lists I once sought so hard to get on, the purity behind how this Forbes list is collected makes me smile. This list is based on scraped data around employer reputation, employee satisfaction, and employee growth. I am so proud of our Odettians who have turned an idea into one of the happiest communities in the startup ecosystem.

Odetta is love, and yet we see war everywhere. We are faced with stories of horror and senseless loss of hope as our world witnesses the invasion of Ukraine. It is in the backdrop of this incomprehensible madness that we must find and honor the networks of helpers everywhere battling these negative acts of ego and destruction. We must celebrate the brave Ukrainians fighting for the grace to keep their country and our world safe.

We stand united,
Katharine

Monthly Spotlight: Smart Lead Generation Machine

Odetta has built a company of more than 400 Odettians without taking any venture capital. The only way we got here is through cold hard sales. We have a hungry creative data-driven sales team who send cold emails across the startup ecosystem and our sales team has closed more than 400 technology company partnerships.

We experience rejection all day long and each one makes us stronger. Last week we had a prospect who told us how pissed they were that we kept emailing until he read what we did and asked for a meeting. We also had a prospect exclaim with such joy how it was impossibly good fortune that we found her at the time we did, and thank you so much for the cold email.

In the end, both converted because our product and how we make our product is GOOD. Our lesson is to keep going especially when everyone says no because the wins are so meaningful.

We love building sales machines for Odetta and for hundreds of our clients. Odetta identifies potential customers on platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, and Google qualifies leads based on your ideal customer profile, collects email and contact info, and delivers fresh leads on your schedule. We can also do deep data research to make these lists especially personalized.

Founder Lesson Learned

My mother raised five children, including her firstborn son and her set of quadruplets, of which I was the only girl. My Harvard-educated mother had worked at the Library of Congress before she became the woman who would dedicate most of her life helping her children become successful in their own rites. While my mother never made us feel the guilt of the loss of her own professional aspirations, I saw the gravity and suffering of her sacrifice. When I was 7 years old, I made a pact with myself to follow my dreams completely. Odetta is an attempt to help highly ambitious women pursue their professional pursuits in addition to their roles as mothers and caretakers. Odetta is a tribute to all women, but mostly to my mother who has never given up on her own dreams - she is currently writing the book she always wanted to write.

Odettian Quote
“The women I referred and encouraged to apply to Odetta have risen not only financially but with respect to their personalities as well. Odetta is like a dream come true for women like us who always aspired to have a career but due to certain responsibilities were unable to do so. For countries like Pakistan, it is even more beneficial because it is helping almost 50% of the unused workforce to be a part of the economy and help it grow. So truly grateful to Odetta for helping us keep our dreams alive and for making us realize we can be more than just mothers or wives. We can have our own successes and our own identities. Odetta has empowered women in the truest sense.”

—Aimen, our fearless mother of twins, who rejoined us after her motherhood leave
Quote of the Month
“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”
