What is your field of expertise?

I recently completed by BS in Bioinformatics. I developed an in-silico methylation site prediction tool in python based on ML concepts.

How long have you been working in this field?

0-2 years

Is your current role one that you always intended on your career path?

I always wanted to be a doctor but was not able to secure my position because of the tough competition we always face during the selection procedure. I then selected bioinformatics for my BS as it was something new and interesting. I absolutely loved this field once I came to know more about the role we as bioinformaticians play to help this world. I was 20 years old when I started working as a data analyst for Odetta. I never imagined working at such a young age and that too with extremely talented women from around the globe. I am really satisfied with my current position and extremely hopeful for a prosperous and happy future of mine as a data scientist.

I am learning something new everyday. I read research papers, articles and practice new things daily. I also take different tutorials and online courses as I know I have a lot to learn and master right now.

What advice do you have for upcoming talent? Any advice for women who want to choose tech as their career?

Go with your heart. Choose what you love. Women and tech, both are the future of this world. So stay strong and motivated you will love this journey.

What is something you love to do? And something you dislike?

I love to write short stories/creative writing. And there is as such nothing that I dislike.

Share a story about something or someone who has been very impact on your life or career?

After I could not make it to the medical colleges, I was very disappointed and lost confidence in myself to an extent that I did not apply for any other university or program. During those 3 months I learned alot of things, I questioned myself whether this negativity or lack of confidence did any good to me? Was this the end of everything? Is this life a wish granting factory and what I wished for was actually right for me? What if my selection for medical college was not good for me and I did not know it before-hand. That was the last time I thought of anything negative about myself or about anything that happens in my life and it has not only helped me boost my confidence but also achieve new heights because of my positive approach. I am stronger than I ever was.

Tell us about a favorite moment or memory at Odetta or from your career?

My birthday last year. I never received tons of birthday wishes in my life :D
