Dear Reader,
Three years ago on 24 May, Odetta was born. Within a few weeks, we hired our first Odettian to complete the task of our very first client. Within a month, Google became our client and we were off to the races.
On a personal level, I had moved from New York to the country of Jordan to humbly ask if Odetta was possible. We wanted to know if we could recruit the region’s brightest talent to join a “first of a kind” work platform aimed to deliver flexible remote work at scale. After receiving thousands of applications to join Odetta, we quickly shifted our headquarters to San Francisco to focus on selling our services to clients.
We are proud of the Odetta team and everything we have done in the past three years; we:
- Gathered 6,312 women into our Odetta community from 30+ locations across the Middle East and South Asia
- Built a vetted workforce of 277 Odettians
- Groomed a leadership team of 53 Odettians
- Grew our client base to 211 clients, mostly technology startups
- Saved our clients over 157,000 hours of work
- Built capabilities across Sales, Data, Recruiting, and Operations, with specializations in prospecting/list building, NLP annotation, and competitive data research
- Certified our team in Hubspot, Salesforce, Jirra, Carta, Airtable, and Asana
- Gained recognition from Forbes as #21 Best Startup Employer in the US in 2021
- And most importantly, truly helped make the world a better place by empowering women around the world to build a better tomorrow
What a privilege to be able to do what we do every day. What an honor to have a community like we do. What a time in history to be building what we are building.
Much love,
Katharine and Odetta

Monthly Spotlight: Interest & Sentiment Analysis on LinkedIn
|
|
|
Our team searches for relevant contacts within select companies or industries that are talking about certain topics, have certain certifications or showing interest in new technology and leading companies in an industry. We do this by monitoring their activity within LinkedIn, joining relevant groups to identify thought leaders and sifting through their comments, likes and engagement online. The final output usually includes a list of contacts that meet this criteria along with the link to the relevant activity, that our clients then use to personalize their outreach to them.

Founder Lesson Learned: Triggers are a Gift
|
|
|
Every person has a set of triggers; the things that rattle them, often disproportionately. For instance, I get triggered by political maneuvering and the use of overly dominant body language. I started to ask, “what does this trait teach me about myself as a leader?” I now enjoy documenting my triggers, as they show me where all my work is.

“Since my childhood, I have been hearing the words for women like “they are not allowed to work” or “they are not supposed to study in the Universities”. I believe Odetta's mission to empower women and give equal opportunities to females to work and earn is an amazing initiative to help women to do wonders in the workspace.”

“Each of us was born to bring forth something that has never existed: a way of being, a family, an idea, art, a community—something brand-new. We are here to fully introduce ourselves, to impose ourselves and ideas and thoughts and dreams onto the world, leaving it changed forever by who we are and what we bring forth from our depths. So we cannot contort ourselves to fit into the visible order. We must unleash ourselves and watch the world reorder itself in front of our eyes.” —Author of Untamed, Glennon Doyle
